I will miss your blog. Peace to you, keep speaking the truth…People do not realize the emotional price that is paid by those who constantly confront evil. It keeps the trauma front and center, with no break from it. My husband is an MST survivor. Yours was one of the first voices that told him he was not alone. He has gotten much better over the past 3 years. You are a part of that. Find peace, friend, in whatever way you need to.
    Love, respect and Peace….

Melanie,as a man who has lived poor most of his adult life I have come to disregard money as having any value against the type of things you have said here…thank you. The blog has served its need to explain to others that this crime MST has destroyed many veterans lives, and the truth has been spoken…but it time to turn a corner and continue advocacy in a different way. I’m so pleased to know your husband has come to realize his isolation is understood by a vast group of survivors…pleased that he can at least find comfort that it was not just him. This blog began particularly because of disagreement with VA policies, which many changes are needed, but I have no more connection with VA and the further away I have walked the less room I have to argue because my details are becoming aged. I have no facts left and must rely on news to help me,so repeating myself has grown, and it has to grow in another medium. I leave soon on a five week journey on the sea…the newer parts will come from that,I will write a book. I hope you will stick around when it comes to life and is there for everyone. I have gained a strange sense of strength by battling the VA system and the victory has been from the many survivors who have joined to read and say that my messages have helped. Peace

I totally support and respect your decision. If you are ever in Nebraska,we’ll have you over for dinner:)

    • jayherron Says:

…and when I come for dinner I will tel you the story about how I thought I lost my ol’dachsund in a snowstorm there on a Bosselman’s truck stop parking lot! He had the better of me!!…hiding under a warm engine watching me frantic digging in the snow!

  3. BJ Says:

Melanie – by all means, have him for dinner. He’s very entertaining and can be very funny. You’ll have to get him to tell you the story of how he took my Dad with him on the truck (he’s a trucker). He scared my Dad so bad, Dad started trying to crawl out the window (if I remember the story right). Oh, and make sure he tells you of his “hippie days” and 1 Corinthians 11:14 vs 2 Corinthians 11:14. He had long hair, and told my Mum that the preacher would probably preach on 1 Corinthians 11:14. Well, he was almost right: the preacher preached on 2 Corinthians 11:14. I can guarantee you, you won’t have to prod him to speak as he has the ‘gift of gab’ and can talk not just your leg, but your arm off, also.

Sweet words BJ. Do you spend much time with Jay? Or has it been a while? Jay I’m happy that you’ve found the right time to move along in your advocacy work. who’d a thunk your blog and your need to speak the truth would have given birth to SO much struggle, and reward, and comraderie, and challenges? I hope you let your blog stand, be searched, found, and shared even if you have moved into other venues of your work. It MOVES. It SHAKES. It creates CHANGE 🙂

    Jay,

You have my regular email…please don’t forget to keep in touch!

You have planted a lot of seeds, my brother! Your garden is blooming all around you.

Blessings and Peace! You are always in my prayers.

Di – I’ve known Jay since I was an infant. His older brother, Frank Herron, III is my father. It’s been about 4 years since I saw Jay last. That was in 2006. I’ve been in Germany since 2007. Thanks for the compliments. By the way, I’m active duty US Air Force. You can check out my website at http://www.angelfire.com/pa5/jonesbj_cdo6886. It needs updated, and it has the photos I took while I was in Iraq in 2003.

Jay, I’m serious about dinner. The fact that you have a dachsund is a plus..you’d have to put up with 2 English Bulldogs …

    • jayherron Says:

I know you are serious…my poor old pal Dachsund shoved off some years back at age 17,he is now replaced by two 5 pound sock chewers! (chiuaua’s) Cabelas has always been a draw to me,every time going into Wyoming I would pass the Cabelas store….so dinner might work! not kidding!

  8. Melanie Says:

Just lost a 16 year old corgi about a year ago. There is a Cabelas in Kearney NE about 60 miles from us :). If you like Cabelas, try Legendary Whitetails http://www.deergear.com. Cool company, I have trained for their call center that takes orders.

    • jayherron Says:

Loosing a pup is rough, the hardest of anything! Yup,the place in Kearney is one worth visiting…I’m a camper!
I used to run Nebraska all the time in the trucking life!

  9. Melanie Says:

    Ever been through Arapahoe?

    • jayherron Says:

Saw the whole town a matter of seconds! I was usually stuck on the 80…but it seems something there in Kansas sent me up that way, might of been cattle? Not a big place…one of those towns where you are stuck with knowing everybody!! lol

  10. Melanie Says:

    It is,indeed, a small world!

  11. Melanie Says:

Mike goes to the VA in Grand Island, we always eat at Bosselmans!

  12. Melanie Says:

You still drive truck? Do you have my email (I know very little about blogs). Since I am about to lose my job (another casualty of overseas outsourcing, I am a trainer in a call center) I may end up writing a book myself!
